PRESS RELEASE NO. APV-06-2010
06 February 2010
The Embassy of the Philippines in Riyadh is pleased to announce that the search is on for the biennial search for the Year 2010 Presidential Awards for Filipino Individuals and Organizations Overseas.
The Presidential Awards aim to recognize exceptional individuals and organizations for their outstanding contributions to Philippine progress and development. The four categories of the Awards are as follows:
Lingkod sa Kapwa Pilipino (LINKAPIL) Award – This award shall be conferred on Filipino associations or individuals for their exceptional or significant contribution to reconstruction, progress and development in the Philippines.
Banaag Award – This award shall be conferred on Filipino individuals or associations for their contributions which have significantly benefited a sector or community in the Philippines, or advanced the cause of overseas Filipino communities.
Kaanib ng Bayan Award – This award shall be conferred on foreign individuals or organizations for their exceptional or significant contribution to Philippine reconstruction, progress and development, or have significantly benefited a sector or community in the Philippines, or advanced the cause of overseas Filipino communities.
Pamana ng Pilipino Award – This award shall be conferred on Filipinos overseas, who, in exemplifying the talent and industry of the Filipino, have brought the country honor and recognition through excellence and distinction in the pursuit of their work or profession.
There are countless deserving Filipino expatriates in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and in the Republic of Yemen who have shown excellence and distinctions in their work or profession, and are very much qualified for the aforementioned award, which has the highest status among the awards being given to Filipinos overseas. Thus, the Embassy encourages everyone to not let this rare opportunity pass for a deserving “kababayan” or FILCOM organization to be recognized by the Philippine Government and represent the Filipino community in Riyadh for said prestigious award.
The Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) is now accepting endorsements from Philippine Foreign Service Establishments abroad for nominations to the Awards. Any individual or group can submit nominations using the prescribed forms with supporting documents on or before 15 May 2010 to the Embassy, which shall review and verify the required documents before making an endorsement to the CFO. The awarding ceremony will be in Malacañang in December 2010.
For more information about the rules, guidelines and categories, the Primer for the Presidential Awards, as well as nomination and endorsements forms (which may be reproduced), may be obtained from the Administrative Section of the Embassy or downloaded at www.cfo.gov.ph.
