Embassy on Wheels back in Al-Khobar
PRESS RELEASE No. APV- 68 -2009
08 December 2009
The Philippine Embassy will once again extend consular services to the Filipino community in the Eastern Province through the “Embassy on Wheels” (EOW) slated on 17-18 December 2009.
Filing of applications for passport renewal and releasing of new, available Machine Readable Passports (MRPs), as well as servicing of various documents for notarization, will be done at the International Philippine School in Al-Khobar (IPSA) on a first-come, first-served basis as done in previous EOWs.
Likewise, only up to four hundred MRP applications will be processed and encoded on Thursday, December 17, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and two hundred on Friday, December 18, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
Any additional MRP applications will be accepted for processing and payment only. Encoding of such applications shall be done at the Embassy and concerned applicants will be asked to return for the next EOW to affix their signatures and thumb marks on the computerized forms.
For those who completed the encoding of their passport applications during the last EOW, it is advisable to first check if their names are included in the list of new MRPs on the Embassy’s website (www.philembassy-riyadh.org) before going to IPSA.
It is necessary for the old passport to be presented for cancellation before the new MRP can be released. Moreover, any representative must submit a written authorization from the concerned applicant.
The next EOW in Al-Khobar will be the tenth and last for 2009, in addition to one each in Hail, Jubail, Hofuf and Buraydah.
In a message he left with Mr. Romulo Victor M. Israel, Jr., Charge d’Affaires, a.i., Ambassador Antonio P. Villamor has noted that all of these would not have been possible without the selfless and steadfast support of the volunteers from different community organizations. “In this joyful and blessed season of the year, we find it fitting to express our utmost appreciation and gratitude for all their efforts and sacrifices and pray for blessings upon their families and personal undertakings, as we look ahead to another year of successful cooperation in the service of our fellow Filipinos in the Eastern Province” he said.
