PRESS RELEASE No. APV- 67 -2009
16 November 2009
Cultural Attaché Rosario G. Malicse bagged the championship trophy at the 2009 ASEAN Womens’ Circle (AWC) Putting Tournament held at the Riyadh Golf Course (RGC) on 02 November 2009. She competed against other ASEAN female diplomats from Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand.
Cultural Attaché Malicse did not hit any hole in one, but she avoided committing bogeys, minimized her putts to pars, and played steadily until the very end of the two round games to secure the top position. She participated in said tournament together with Mesdames Catherine Joy P. Israel and Leonarda S. Abarra.
Other winners were Mrs. Aisah Haji Badaruddin (1st runner-up from Brunei), Mesdames Esi Ujang and Nilam Larasati Sukanto (2nd and 3rd runner-up, respectively, from Indonesia) and Mrs. Dayang Tetty Hasrina binte Pungut (4th runner-up from Brunei). A special award for “most hole in one” was also conferred to Mrs. Siti Rafiah binti Abu Bakar of Malaysia.
The ASEAN ladies gathered together for a luncheon at the RGC restaurant after the tournament. However, their prizes were awarded during the AWC’s monthly general meeting held at the residence of the Ambassador of the Union of Myanmar in Riyadh on 07 November 2009.
The putting tournament is among the many activities organized annually by the AWC for its members. END photo
