Embassy on Wheels in November
PRESS RELEASE No. APV-58-2009
21 October 2009
Over a month since its last outreach service in Al-Khobar, the Philippine Embassy today announced that it will be able to resume the “Embassy on Wheels” (EOW) at the International Philippine School in Al-Khobar (IPSA) on 5-6 November 2009.
The clamor of the Filipino community organizations following the temporary suspension of such service due to budgetary constraints was heard and addressed by no less than President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo during her visit to the Eastern Province on 20-21 September 2009.
Concerned authorities in Manila, thus, have taken the necessary steps to allot additional funding needed by the Embassy in consideration of the benefits that members of the Filipino community in the Eastern Province, who live 450 kilometers or more away from Riyadh, can avail of from the Embassy’s extension service, as Ambassador Antonio P. Villamor has pointed out in his previous representations.
As practiced in the past, the EOW team will once again receive and process applications for the new Machine Readable Passport (MRP) and notarial services on a first-come, first-served basis at IPSA from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM on November 5, Thursday, and from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM on November 6, Friday.
Up to 400 MRP applications can be accommodated for processing, payment and encoding on Thursday while the succeeding 200 shall be scheduled for encoding the following day. Other applications that may be filed afterwards shall also be accepted but for processing and payment only.
Moreover, MRPs that are available for releasing can be claimed by the applicants or their duly authorized representatives during the EOW by presenting their old passport and payment receipt.
Concerned applicants are advised to check on the list of MRPs posted at www.philembassy-riyadh.org for prior verification on the availability of their passports. END
