The world has witnessed the havoc that was wreaked by the successive typhoons that hit no only the Philippines, but also other countries in Southeast Asia. The devastation that was caused by typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng has severely affected considerable parts of the Philippines, including the capital Manila itself. As such, Filipinos around the world are lending their much needed support and assistance in this time of great need, true to the uniquely Filipino spirit of bayanihan.
It has come to the attention of the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Riyadh that several Filipino individuals and groups in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are soliciting financial assistance from companies and establishments in the Kingdom for our countrymen who have been adversely affected by the successive typhoons. Apparently, these individuals and groups are stating that the Embassy has authorized them to collect donations for our countrymen.
In this regard, the Embassy wishes to announce that it has not authorized any individual or group to undertake the aforementioned solicitations for the affected areas in the Philippines.
