EOW in Buraydah
PRESS RELEASE No. AVP- 44 -2009
03 August 2009
Filipino community organizations SAMPIGA and KAMPI are working together, in coordination with Labor Attache Adam Musa, to help organize the conduct of the “Embassy on Wheels” in response to the growing clamor of OFWs in Qassim Region this coming August 13-14.
This is the first EOW in the region for this year; the last time the EOW services had been extended to the Filipino community in Qassim was in October last year.
This time the venue will be moved to Al-Salman Hotel in Buraydah where the EOW services will be open to the public from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 13, and from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday, August 14.
A small contingent of eight (8) consular staff, headed by Consul Romulo Victor M. Israel Jr., will be deployed by Ambassador Antonio P. Villamor to conduct the mobile passport and other consular services.
They will be joined by a team from the Labor Section of the Embassy in charge of its Central Region Operations that will promote OWWA programs and services as well as provide labor consultation assistance.
The Embassy is doing its best despite its limited resources to fulfill its commitment to extend full services to large concentrations of Filipino nationals outside the capital city of Riyadh, especially since the issuance of the new MRP requires personal appearance of the applicant.
The leaders of the two Filipino community groups in Qassim have assured the Embassy that hospitals and clinics employing large numbers of female nurses have been apprised of the EOW program, which has been well appreciated and long awaited by OFWs in Buraydah especially the female medical personnel whose movement is quite restricted by their duties as well as the local customs.
