OAV Registration for Filipinos in the Eastern Region

The Commission on Elections – Committee on Overseas Absentee Voting (COMELEC-COAV) has approved the conduct of field registration at the International Philippine School in Al-Khobar (IPSA) for Filipinos in the Eastern Region who wish to register this year to be able to vote in Saudi Arabia in the 2010 Philippine national elections.
David Des T. Dicang, Labor Attache of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office – Eastern Region Operations (POLO-ERO) and OAV Focal Person in Al-Khobar, announced the following schedule of OAV registration at the IPSA:
- May 14-15 (Thu-Fri) - 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- May 21-22 (Thu-Fri) - 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- May 28-29 (Thu-Fri) - 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- June 04-05 (Thu-Fri) - 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Applicants are requested to bring their Philippine passport (original or photocopy) as a requirement for registration.
The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh and POLO-ERO welcomed with appreciation the approval of the COMELEC-COAV to conduct OAV registration in Al-Khobar, as well the sending of additional data capture machines that will arrive soon.
Ambassador Antonio P. Villamor said, “For now, registration at the IPSA will be held on weekends only. The COMELEC has held in abeyance our request for weekday registration at the IPSA. The Embassy shall send another request to the COMELEC for approval to conduct registration at IPSA five-days-a-week (Mondays to Fridays). In the meantime, I call on our fellow kababayans in the Eastern Region to avail of this opportunity and proceed to the IPSA on weekends to register.”
