EOW Returns to Al-Khobar with Passport Extension Facility for Emergency
PRESS RELEASE No. APV-23-2009
23 April 2009
After sending a small consular team to conduct outreach services in Hofuf on April 16-17 where 175 MRP applicants have been served, the Embassy will be resuming the “Embassy on Wheels” in Al-Khobar on April 30 and May 1.
As in previous EOWs, the usual schedule will be followed in receiving applications on a first-come, first-served basis:
Date Time Applications
Thursday, April 30 : 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM : 400
Friday, May 1 : 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM : 200
In excess of the number allotted for Thursday and Friday, the EOW team will allow applicants to complete the verification and payment process and then bring their application forms for encoding in Riyadh later.
However, concerned applicants are reminded that they still have to affix their signatures and thumb marks on the Computer Generated Form (CGF) to be printed after encoding.
They also have the option of bringing their application forms personally to the Embassy just for the required encoding.
The Embassy also wishes to inform all passport applicants that after consuming all its available green passports, the Embassy by authority from the Department of Foreign Affairs has opened a facility for the extension of passport validity for up to one year for those who find themselves in extremely difficult situations or emergencies which require immediate travel to the Philippines or other countries.
A fee of SR80.00 will be assessed for the extension of passport validity.
But for those who have lost their passports, they may still apply for a Travel Document, in which case, however, it cannot be used in requesting an exit/re-entry visa from the Saudi immigration authorities.
A Travel Document, which is valid for three months and carries a regular consular fee of SR120.00, can be used only for one-way travel from any country back to the Philippines. END
