First EOW for 2009 Slated on January 29-30

PRESS RELEASE No. APV - 02 -2009
20 January 2009

First EOW for 2009 Slated on January 29-30

Stressing the commitment of the Embassy to improve its frontline services by making them more accessible and efficient, Ambassador Antonio P. Villamor gave instructions for the continuation of the “Embassy on Wheels” in Al-Khobar and other areas under the Embassy’s jurisdiction this year.

After achieving so many firsts in the Embassy’s drive to extend its services to Filipino communities outside Riyadh last year, the first EOW this year will take place at the International Philippine School in Al-Khobar (IPSA) on January 29-30.

Following are the schedule and corresponding number of applications that can be accommodated:

Date                                       Time                                          Applications
Thursday, Jan. 29      :           8:00 AM to 5:00 PM             :           350
Friday, Jan. 30          :           8:00 AM to 12:00 PM           :           200

As in previous EOWs, new applicants that cannot be accommodated for encoding on Thursday, January 29, will be accepted the following day.

Applications that will exceed the allotted number for encoding on Friday may be received by the Embassy team for encoding in Riyadh later, but the concerned applicants must report again for the next EOW in order to affix their signatures and thumb marks on the computer-printed form.

Only after the applicants have signed and pressed their thumb marks on the Computer Generated Form or CGF can the Embassy send these forms to Manila for the printing of their Machine Readable Passports.

Otherwise, if they cannot wait for the next EOW in Al-Khobar they can after paying the passport fee opt to bring their application forms to the Embassy for the required encoding.

Once again, a separate line will be set up for applicants who did not finish with the encoding of their applications during the previous EOWs.

Preparations are also underway for the first EOW to be held in Hail next month to serve Filipinos working in clinics, hospitals, agricultural companies and other establishments 641 kilometers away from Riyadh. END
