DepED Officials Visits KSA

 

The officials from the Department of Education (DepED) in the Philippines visited Riyadh,KSA on 12-13 January 2009. The delegation was composed of Drs. Estrella A. Babano (Regional Director), Yolanda S. Quijano (Director, Bureau of Elementary Education) and Ma. Elsie C. Esmer (Senior Education Program Specialist).

The DepEd officials paid a courtesy call to Ambassador Antonio P. Villamor on 12 January 2009. The Ambassador prepared a traditional Filipino breakfast for the team and had a brief discussion on the current issues and concerns of Philippine International Schools within the jurisdiction of the Embassy.

The Inter-Agency Committee on Philippine Schools Overseas (IACPSO) tasked the aforementioned officials to conduct an ocular inspection of selected Philippine International Schools in the Kingdom. The Future Generation Philippine International School (FGPIS) and Al Danah International School (ADIS) were the schools in Riyadh inspected by the DepED.

Said officials also carried out a seminar for Filipino teachers on multimedia-based curriculum and standards for pre-school education, which was held at the Millennium International School (MIS) on 13 January 2009 from 8:30 am -3:00 pm. Around forty (40) participants from the different Philippine International Schools in Riyadh attended said seminar.

After the seminar, the group proceeded to Jeddah where they will stay until the 15th of January 2009 to fulfill the same purpose. Thereafter, they will continue their official trip to Dammam from 15-17 January 2009. END pls see pic
