Press Release No. 067-2012

3 May 2012

Philippine Ambassador in Riyadh Mr. Ezzedin H. Tago thanked the Filipino community in the Eastern Region for their continued dedication and volunteerism during the Embassy’s outreach consular services around the Kingdom, especially in Al-Khobar.

As part of the Embassy’s commitment to increase accessibility for consular services, a team by Consul Mohd. Noordin Pendosina Noor Lomondot, travelled from Riyadh to Al-Khobar and extended various consular services to 978 Filipinos on 26-27 April 2012.

Consul Lomondot reported to Ambassador Tago, “with the help of community leaders and volunteers, the Embassy team encoded 636 applications for renewal of passports,  103 extensions of passports, 28 registrations of birth for infants, 2 authentication and 211 notarial of various consular documents.”

The Embassy will return back to Eastern Region for the sixth scheduled Embassy on Wheels in Al-Khobar on 10-11 May 2012 which will be dedicated to passport services only.

The consular mission in May is part of the additional 6 for 2012, introduced for the Embassy to be more accessible with a total of 18 consular missions in 2012 just for Al-Khobar.  In May and June, the Embassy will also conduct another 3 consular outreach missions in Al-Khobar on 24-25 May, 14-15 June, and 28-29 June.

The venue will be at the Al Jazeera International School Dammam with address Al Rakah, Al Khobar.

The Philippines has been issuing a biometric electronic passort since late 2009, and issuance is no longer immediate as processing requires 30 calendar days.  Applicants are able to check if their passports are ready for release on the Embassy’s website, and passports processed during the consular outreach are brought to the next outreach mission once they are available for release.

The Embassy asks all Filipinos in the Kingdom to check the validity of their passports, and apply well in advance to avoid inconveniences.
